Welcome to the NSF CISE PI Meeting 2020!

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Computer Information Science and Engineering (CISE) funds Research for Undergraduate Experiences (REU) sites across the nation. The REU program supports active participation in science, engineering, and education research by undergraduate students. The REU program seeks to expand student participation in all kinds of research -- both disciplinary and interdisciplinary -- encompassing efforts by individual investigators, groups, centers, national facilities, and others. It draws on the integration of research and education to attract a diverse pool of talented students into careers in science and engineering, including teaching and education research related to science and engineering, and to help ensure that these students receive the best education possible.

The REU PI Meeting 2020 will facilitate an open discussion forum among seasoned PIs, new PIs, and NSF CISE REU program officers on the state-of-practice of running successful REU sites. The goal is to gather the Principal Investigators (PI) of the 96 active CISE-funded REU Sites, the PIs' teams, and the REU program officers in a productive conversation about what strategies work best towards achieving the REU goals of encouraging domestic undergraduate students to pursue graduate school. This meeting is only aimed at the CISE directorate, nor is it aimed at those who are simply interested in putting together a REU Site proposal. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago Illinois, from April 29th, 2020 at 6PM CST to May 1st, 2020 at 3PM CST. This event is sponsored by NSF award 1659836.
